Dear HTAA Basketball Families-

Hello! This email is intended to share an update from the HTAA Basketball Board.  Covid19 will make this winter, unlike anything we have ever experienced.  The HTAA Basketball Board and HTHS are planning on following the guidelines set out by the local, state health officials, and NJSIAA.

  1. We are actively researching options for this winter.  The pandemic has made our planning very difficult especially as cases are increasing.

  1. Traditionally, we enter into three different leagues. Each league may offer different responses to this unique winter.  Their choices in the face of this health crisis will impact our offerings.

    1. SJBBL runs the boy’s side.

    2. ICBL runs the girl’s side.

    3. CCBL allows us to offer playing options for younger and second teams in a grade.

  1. At this point, we are suspending Town and Clinic for this winter and looking into options for travel to persevere.  We will offer travel programming for 4th through 8th graders.

  1. As our offerings may be limited, we are expecting to do tryouts and will have to do cuts.  These smaller offerings may also challenge our ability to offer B or second-level teams due to both our challenges and the providers not offering a place for them to find competitive competition. Please know that anyone deciding to opt-out of the 2020-2021 season will not be disadvantaged in the future.

  1. Please note this winter, the global pandemic will greatly increase our need to unrelentingly enforce deadlines especially for the no-fee try-outs, registration, and other paperwork.

Before we can move forward, we need your input.  Please complete this questionnaire for each student-athlete in your home.  We are looking to gauge interest levels before we move forward and make these incredibly challenging decisions.  Please respond by noon on 10/28.
